The Coaching Academy

Creating Achievers.

MHHFO Coaching Academy is our flagship life-skills and leadership program — pairing age-appropriate coaching, mentoring and the arts with a clear-eyed understanding of what kids who are fearful, underserved, or navigating foster care, homelessness or a single-parent household actually need to thrive.

Create an environment designed to promote growth, personal development, and improve academic performance.

About the Academy

An outlet for gifts kids didn't know they had.

Our staff create an outlet for children to discover their gifts and talents through painting, drawing, storybook writing, playwriting and skits, pottery, music, dance, poetry, fashion & design, and simply having time to talk. Because arts programs are so often the first thing cut from school budgets, we've built the arts directly into our literacy-based educational programming.

This approach has helped a diverse group of children ages 6–16 — including children who experience maltreatment, who are frequently fearful or depressed, who feel unloved, needy or underserved, or who come from low-income families, foster care, homelessness, or divorced or single-parent households. These are the young people most likely to be at higher risk for dropping out of school, unplanned living arrangements, juvenile involvement, feelings of hopelessness, and self-isolation — and most likely to repeat a grade or face behavioral challenges without the right support in place.
